I know the feeling. I just planned to run a half in around 2:15 and ended up running it in 2:27. All my friends finished like a half hour before I did, so I definitely know how you felt.

excellent reflections! I know you have that next race in the bag … and WOW will it be a sweet tasting PR 🙂

Hugs! You’re so right – every race teaches us something – sometimes it’s things we’ve done well, and sometimes they teach us what we can improve upon.

I *loved* how honest this reflection was. Thank you very much for sharing it. As a new runner, it’s very helpful to have these things in mind as I progress.

Thank you for your honest reflection! We all have bad races (or bad runs) and it’s so good to reflect on them so you can improve the next time. You will get that PR – I know it! 🙂

Ashley I think your points are great and I really admire your additude of taking what could be a negative and turning it into a positive learning experience. Can’t wait till you crush your next goal race!

We have all been there! I’m sure you are your own harshest critic – I think just by running the race you have something to be very proud of!

I’m sorry your race didn’t go as planned but I’m sure you’ll get your PR next time 🙂

Hearing to you list the reasons that you bonked, reminds me why I like to try for PR’s here in NY instead of when travelling to races because I can keep my routine as simple and typical as possible and focus only on running. The BK Half is coming up and there is also the More Half and the NJ half too coming up. You can try again then!

LOVE the honesty and candidness. Thank you so much for sharing. You inspire me greatly!!!

It stinks that you didn’t do as well as you wanted, but look at how much you learned!! I still think anyone who can run 13.1 miles is amazing, regardless of how they did. Thanks for sharing your thoughts:)

Not having a race turn out like we hope is a big let down (I had my own disastrous half back in Nov when I missed the finish line…oy), but I think every race is a learning experience and I know that when you eventually get that PR, it’s going to feel so damn good. The best things in life are the toughest to acquire and I feel like that’s especially true in running 🙂 Congrats on your 13.1 today as well!

Love your honesty and these are all really good reminders and things that are easily missed but when you add them up make a big difference!
