Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5k

You all know that Savannah, my hometown, will always hold a dear place in my heart. The majestic oak trees, delicious food, slower pace, friendly people and rich history make it a city which I love sharing with our friends. In July, Bo and I were elated to share Savannah with our friends during his 30th birthday weekend.

But there is another side of Savannah which is best experienced by foot. The cobblestone streets, carefully designed squares, Forsyth Park’s iconic fountain and historic homes leave people breathless as they explore Savannah’s rich history.

Savannah’s running community gets to enjoy these sights on a daily basis but isn’t it time that these sites are shared with others? There has been a lot of feedback over the past few years that the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Half & Full don’t let runners experience most of these sites. Luckily Publix and Savannah have partnered to host the first Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K this March!

Womens Marathon

I am so excited to announce that I have joined the team as one of their race ambassadors! Over the next few months, leading up to the race I will be sharing training tips, giveaways and more! Offering both a 5k and half marathon distance, this is the perfect race weekend for you and your girlfriends! My mom and aunt have already signed up to walk the half marathon while a few of my girlfriends will be joining me in Savannah for good food, perfect weather and a lot of race weekend fun! The Saturday race means that Saturday evening can be spent celebrating in City Market or at one of Savannah’s rooftop bars overlooking the river.

I am interested in going to Savannah, though we were thinking more like late February. What is the weather like in the end of March ( and end of February?) when does it start to get hot? I am from upstate NY so my hot is probably a Savannah girl’s pleasantly warm…:-)

Amy the average temperature is a high of 72 and a low of 48. If you ask me, that’s pretty perfect! It’s typically warm enough and sunny enough for a walk on the beach but rarely hot enough to be in a swimsuit. February can be pretty cool – 65 high lows in low 40.
