Piles of Cardboard+Paper+Ten Hours of Work= Exhaustion

This morning Bo and I woke up bright and early ready to take on the day of unpacking and moving in. We wanted to get as much done today as possible since tomorrow will include a few hours of celebration in the morning. We’re going to Forefront Church with Lauren and Casey before a birthday brunch to celebrate Lauren’s 26th birthday. We headed over to Starbucks for coffee and breakfast since our fridge was basically empty.
After this short but gorgeous walk our day consisted of 10 hours straight of unpacking boxes, breaking them down, recycling the paper filling each box, figuring out our apartment layout, and random trips to Bed, Bath and Beyond and the Container Store.
These are the only pictures I have thus far since I can’t find my camera cord in the mess. I’ll leave you with this exciting note though. My two favorite things about the apartment are at either end of our 710 square foot home; a 80 sq foot walk in closet with California Closet design and shelving and a HUGE walk in pantry also equipped with California Closet shelving! I’m in heaven after not having a pantry for the last year!
I’m so excited for this walk in closet! I even have a shelf for my yoga mat, weights, band, and DVDs!
Hope everyone had a lovely Saturday and good luck to all the ladies running the MORE Half Marathon tomorrow in Central Park. Melissa and I ran this together last year and sweated through the 13.1 miles since it was humid and over 85 degrees! At least this year promises to be cooler. 🙂
Bo and I are curling up on the sofa with an easy dinner and the first episode of Treme. Has anyone watched it?

Joining the Glee Clan…

I’m not sure where I’ve been for the last few years but until tonight, Bo nor I had ever watched even a minute of Glee.

After this week’s constant Twitter chatter regarding Glee and the episode I went on a hunt to find Season 1 Episode 1. I searched Hulu and other websites but couldn’t find the first episode. I didn’t look on Netflix as I assumed the wait time would be at least a few weeks. Luckily, before I headed over to iTunes to download the episode Bo told me he had received the wonderful email news:

Glee: Season 1: Vol. 1: Disc 2

Arriving on or around: Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010

Knowing that this little red envelope would be waiting for me in our mailbox kept me excited and smiling all day. Today was a grueling day of meetings straight from 9am to 5pm. After sitting quietly in meetings all I wanted to do was get home and sing out along to Glee! Even though I have no artistic abilities at all I am an appreciator. And hey, without appreciators there wouldn’t be a reason for the artists, would there?

Bo and I picked up quick and easy salads on our way home from our new apartment. We had to drop off a few things before the big move on Friday. We gave Organique

a second try after Saturday’s epic fail. We loved the food Saturday but the service was absolutely horrible! Tonight I went with the safe and simple choice- salad. Organique features far more toppings than the average NYC salad place including sauteed onions, balsamic portabello mushrooms, and lentils! Tonight I went with an Asian theme and made a huge salad filled with:
-romaine
-lentils
-portabello mushrooms
-sauteed onions
-carrots
-edamame
-organic ginger soy dressing

The flavors were perfect and EXACTLY what I was craving. I love that by mixing a new dressing with everyday salad ingredients you can give the vegetables a whole new flavor. Okay, that was a bit obvious, but you know what I mean. Hopefully, after these few stressful weeks are done I can get back to cooking healthy meals on Sunday so we don’t have to pick up takeout on weeknights.

I’m cutting this one short to head over to the sofa and catch the first episode of Glee. Here’s to hoping Bo likes it too!

What makes a perfect blogger business card?

Something basic like the above which evokes a giant yawn and instantly gets thrown away. Or something super creative and expensive like the one below?

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve had the great opportunity to enjoy morning runs, lunches, and Foodbuzz events with fellow bloggers and readers. The only issue that is that everyone always asks for a business card. This should be a good sign. They want to find my blog and they want to have a means through which to stay in touch. In an business world that is moving more and more towards email contact information versus actual business cards, I’d somehow overlooked the importance of physical business cards. After a wonderful conversation with both Meghann and Kath, I have decided to order Healthy, Happier Bear business cards from Zazzle this week. I would love your input on what you think I need to include to ensure I have an affective and efficient business card. Please leave your ideas in the comments section. I’m also open to aesthetic ideas as well. Should I feature the bear picture on the business card or keep it simple? Should I echo the brown color themes to keep the equity consistent? In addition, I realize that my web address and blog name don’t match perfectly. My web address is http://www.healthyhappierbear.blogspot.com/ while my blog name is formally A Healthier, Happier Bear. I don’t know when the disconnect started but I think from a marketing and equity standpoint I need to choose one and go with it. Therefore it seems like the web address is the more permanent one.  Thank you in advance for your help! Also, a huge thank you to Meghann who introduced me to Windows Live Writer today. How had I never heard of this before?

In case you missed it this weekend was filled with some wonderful memories:
A Sunny Easter Sunday
Raw Vegan Fire
Bears Wedding Day in Pictures
NYRR Scotland 10K recap and Friday fun night
